Trafford Ukrainian Response

What's happening locally?

Across Trafford families are preparing their homes to receive refugees fleeing war in Ukraine. For many their homes and lives have already been destroyed, loved ones are left behind and the future unknown. The government is enabling UK residents with suitable spare accommodation to provide a safe home for anyone from Ukraine that wants one.

In Trafford we are preparing to receive as many as 1000 refugees fleeing the conflict over the coming days, weeks and months. It's a massive operation, and we're aware that many will arrive with children or elderly family and little more than the clothes on their backs. Many of us feel helpless, and yet we now have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of some individuals.

As Ukrainian refugees begin to arrive in the UK, they will be supported and it's our job to ensure that those in Trafford have access to all that they need, and know about all of the incredible groups, services and personal support currently being arranged by generous people across our borough. Here's how you can help.

GIVE

You can support our Ukrainian friends financially. The Trafford Ukrainian Response Fund has been set up by our hubs on behalf of Trafford Council. All donated funds will help to create welcome packs for all new arrivals, as well as forming an emergency pot to help anyone in need after they arrive here in Trafford.

The fund is being administered at present by The Hideaway (Hidden Treasure Discovery Centre CIC) on behalf of the Trafford hubs and Trafford Council. Every penny donated will be used to support Ukrainian Refugees in Trafford.

VOLUNTEER

There are many ways to get involved in supporting our Ukrainian friends by volunteering your time. This may be to offer direct help such as befriending, running a support group or sourcing items that are needed. It may be to offer your professional skills such as counselling, or teaching English as a second language (ESOL). If you would like to get involved in volunteering in some way, please contact your local Trafford Community Hub who will be delighted to point you in the right direction.

Giving in this way enables us to keep and use 100% of the funds donated with no 'cut' being taken by fundraising pages or credit card processing companies. About Us

The Trafford Community Hubs provide a wide range of first-level support for all residents in Trafford. Working in partnership with Trafford Council, Trafford Housing Trust and voluntary organisations right across the borough, the hubs provide a local, personal service. They aim to bring together a wide range of support services as well as running a number of services themselves. They provide a friendly face, a physical space to drop in to, co-ordination and communication about all the fantastic services that are available to residents and practical solutions when you're not sure where to turn.
